Description
‘These are words among tents of displacement, bearing fragmented pain to stitch together a patched tent that clings to the hearts of those who read it. Together with Moayed’s unique artistic lens, which conveys the pain and the beauty of love despite it all—Gaza’s oxygen breathes through this book.’ – Jehad Jarbou
A collaboration between Gaza-based poet Jehad Jarbou and photographer Moayed Abu Ammouna, this is an independent, fully DIY publication to raise funds in support of their lives and artistic work in the Gaza Strip. Jehad has also just given birth to her baby in a displacement camp.
This project is a way to help them rebuild their lives in the midst of this unimaginable destruction, and to continue creating as artists in a context where genocide makes art seem a ‘non-essential’ pursuit. We, instead, see art as something profoundly essential—a tool of resistance and a powerful force in the fight for memory and justice.
The book is a collaboration between poet Jehad Jarbou and photographer Moayed Abu Ammouna, combining Jehad’s powerful poems with Moayed’s striking photography.
