About Duncan Beedie

Duncan Beedie is a children’s author and illustrator based in Bristol, UK. He has been doodling and drawing since way back in the early 1980s, lying on his parents’ living room floor, grasping a felt tip in his clammy little fist. Duncan worked in animation for 14 years before transitioning into children’s literature. Drawing and storytelling has always played a significant in his career. When not in front of a drawing tablet or sketchbook, he likes to spend time with his wife, daughter and tirelessly playful springer spaniel, Ivor.

Duncan’s much-loved previous books include No Sleep For Bear, The Bear Who Stared, Molly’s Moon Mission, The Last Chip, The Lumberjack’s Beard and Oof Makes An Ouch.

About Heavy Metal Badger

An empowering rock anthem, from the fantastically-funny Duncan Beedie, celebrating identity and self-expression.

Badger is ready to ROCK! The music inside him is ready to burst out. He just needs to find a band. But recorder class isn’t right. Neither’s the choir. Nor the marching band! Will Badger ever find his musical tribe? Perhaps it’s been there all along…

Children will love the laugh-out-loud chaos that Badger causes on his quest for a musical home.

Packed with tons of rock-themed references, puns and visual jokes, this is THE picture book for budding rock music lovers. Perfect for fans of Dogs Don’t Do Ballet by Anna Kemp and Sara Ogilvie, Zog by Julia Donaldson and Axel Scheffler, and The Lion Inside by Rachel Bright and Jim Field.
