Winter Sleep: A Hibernation Story mixes storytelling with science in a woodland adventure exploring where all sorts of wild creatures disappear to. It features breathtaking illustrations by Cinyee Chiu and has been described as ‘A brilliant book to celebrate the magic and science of hibernation’.

Join authors Sean Taylor and Alex Morss for a lively morning of picture book fun and learning about the natural world. Age recommendation 4–8.

About Sean Taylor

Sean Taylor has written more than 40 books for young readers. These include picture books such as Hoot Owl, Master of Disguise and I Want to Be in a Scary Story!, both illustrated by Jean Jullien, Where the Bugaboo Lives, illustrated by Neal Layton, The World Champion of Staying Awake, illustrated by Jimmy Liao, A Brave Bear, illustrated by Emily Hughes and Don’t Call Me Choochie Pooh!, illustrated by Kate Hindley. He lives in Bristol with his wife and two sons.

About Alex Morss

Alex Morss is an independent ecologist, journalist, author, educator and campaigner. She is also one of Avon Wildlife Trust’s Wildlife Champions, with 20 years experience in publishing and 15 in ecology, plus many more spent as a naturalist exploring the tree of life. ​​Her work involves defending and promoting the conservation of protected species and their habitats, creating opportunities for others to make exciting discoveries about the natural world, plus writing, editing, broadcasting and producing written and digital content on nature, science, conservation and environment.
